Home Battery Storage · Hertfordshire & Essex

Home battery storage, installed by the electrician who surveys it.

Not a call centre. Not a subcontractor you'll never see again. Jamie and Dan — two qualified electricians — design, survey and install every job themselves, start to finish. And because it's not a company selling your details on, the numbers are honest too: typically £300–£700 over the next 12 months (£25–£60 a month), using real local rates — not a generic estimate.

What could this actually save you?

1 · What's your usage like? — works without solar

It's your usage and battery size that set the number, not the type of house — these three are just quick examples to start from.

Recommended: 1 battery · 10.36 kWh usable, based on your bill.

We don't quote a payback period — nobody can honestly promise what energy prices do next. These are real savings figures, not a prediction of the future.

These are estimates using live local rates and real hardware — your usage and JJB's confirmed install price will move the exact number slightly. Octopus Go's standing charge (~54p/day) isn't included above and may differ from what you pay now.

How That Number Works

A typical day, on a Time-of-Use tariff

The battery does one thing, automatically, every 24 hours — buy electricity when it's cheap, use it when it would otherwise cost the most.

00:30 – 05:30
Night Rate

Battery charges from the grid at around 9.5p/kWh on Octopus Go — averaged from live rates checked across JJB Volta's coverage area.

Rate checked August 2026. Octopus Go rates vary by region and move with each Ofgem price cap review — always confirm the live rate for your postcode before quoting a customer.

05:30 – 00:30
Day Rate

Home runs on stored battery power instead of buying at around 33p/kWh — one flat rate for all 19 hours outside the night window, not the sunniest one.

Rate checked August 2026 — reconfirm before use in new materials.

This cycle runs on tariff rates, not sunshine — the same charge and saving in a grey December as a bright June. No generation to wait for, nothing weather can take away.

Already Comparing Installers?

There are two ways to buy a battery system.

What you'll find most places

A national company takes your details online, then sells or routes the job to a local subcontractor you've never met and can't check — you're often not even sure who's actually turning up.

JJB Volta

Jamie and Dan design your system, survey your home, and do the install themselves — the same two qualified electricians, on every single job, accountable to you directly. Not a call centre, not a lead sold on.

Why JJB Volta

Electricians first. That's why the install is done properly.

We're not a solar-only outfit bolting a battery on as an afterthought — battery systems and the electrical work behind them are our trade.

Thinking About Solar Too?

Three real-shaped examples, not a calculator.

Solar savings depend on your roof's orientation, pitch and shading — things a slider can't know. These three examples are anchored to real JJB Volta installs, not a generic UK-yield assumption.

Beyond The Number

This isn't just about the fastest possible payback.

A battery gives you more control over how and when you buy electricity — not a guaranteed high-return investment, and we won't sell it as one.

Lower bills, from day one

The saving above isn't a projection — it's built from real local rates, checked live. What it doesn't include is what happens to prices after today, because nobody can honestly promise that.

Less exposed to price rises

Most of what you'd otherwise buy at the day rate gets replaced with electricity bought at the fixed overnight rate instead. We can't guarantee the gap between rates stays where it is today.

Two things worth knowing we're deliberately not claiming here: whether this battery keeps your power on during a cut depends on whether backup/EPS capability is specified — we'll confirm that with you at survey, not assume it. And we're not putting a carbon-saving figure on this page — shifting when you draw grid power doesn't reliably cut emissions unless the overnight generation mix is genuinely cleaner, and that's not something we can verify and stand behind here. If reducing your own footprint or having power independence matters to you as much as the bill, tell us — it changes how we'd size and specify your system, and we'd rather have that conversation honestly than guess.
What We Get Called Out For

A growing share of our work is fixing someone else's battery or EV charger install.

Not because the equipment was faulty — because it was never properly commissioned. A battery that's never been set to the right tariff schedule. An EV charger drawing from the expensive daytime rate instead of the cheap overnight window. Technically installed. Not technically doing its job. We won't name who did the original work — that's not the point. The point is that "installed" and "installed properly" aren't the same thing.
